Rich Johnson has been a name on the beach for decades now with more than 35 years fishing the pounding suds from Breezy to Montauk. Rich has been qualified by NY State and has held a guides license and has been guiding in the surf longer than anyone else at present time.

Having grown up in Rockville Centre, Rich was never more than 20 minutes from the suds in Long Beach, where he has lived since 1982. Rich has fished it all from Montauk to Sandy Hook with his efforts concentrated on the Breezy to Robert Moses beaches. He is certainly no slouch when it comes to Montauk either.

As the associate editor of The Fisherman magazine from 93-95', Rich left and has been on the northeast United States airwaves with his radio and television shows for almost a decade now with plenty of time and the ability to make his own schedule at the spur of the moment to accommodate those looking to fish anytime.anywhere. Rich has fished with some of the best surfcasters over his life and has learned many tricks to put fish on he beach.

Rich's Surf Seminars draw 500 or more and has filled gymnasiums for these full event productions with fly over videos for all the beaches of our area and Rich has been asked by organizations like the CCA, HRFANJ, NYSF to present lectures and seminars with video presentations included.

Rich believes walking and hunting the fish is a BIG part of the surf game and rarely drives the beach believing "the fish are right under our noses. We just need to stop, look, smell and read the beach and the fish will be at our feet. I have found, particularly in Montauk, too many surfcasters rely on reports and their vehicles to fish. How many times have you seen everybody sitting and talking and not fishing along the "drive on" beaches? Nobody wants to be the first to catch.but I do," Rich says.

On the rocks or on the Montauk front, Rich will provide a days worth of great memories.

Tides do not matter when you know where the fish are and where they like to play, hide or feed. You will learn what tackle is meant to do and not do, bait migration patterns, lure choices and this is not just a cast and throw session, but this is learning with an experienced, professional surf guide. You will fish with top quality tackle.all provided, that has served Rich well over the years producing some quality fish.
